Global warming and the greenhouse effect
Heavy metal pollution
Pollution of the sea by oil
Agricultural and industrial wastes

Course Outline
1. Introduction to current environmental issues.
2. Green house gas related microbes: emission and oxidation
3. Biotransformation and biodegradation
4. Bioavailability, Chemotaxis, and Transport of organic pollutants
5. Water microbiology in public health
6. Oil biodegradation in marine systems
7. Remove of heavy metals by microbes

The goal of this course is to let students acquire up-to-date knowledge on microbial solutions for environmental problems, including bioremedation, biodegradation, biotransformation, and biogeochemistry. |
